New 4K Restoration

In 1937 after The Second Sino-Japanese War breaks out a soldier and a young woman have an awkward meet cute in darkness under a bridge as they seek refuge during a bomb raid. Although they can't see each other's faces they promise to meet again after the dust settles. Ten years later the soldier, now a burgeoning songwriter and tuba-player in a marching band, is back in town desperately searching for his would-be soulmate. As fate would have it they end up living in the same building unbeknownst to each other. Through a series of mishaps he mistakes her new ingénue roommate for his love interest and wacky love triangle hijinks ensue. Consummate auteur Tsui Hark almost singlehandedly reinvented Hong Kong cinema in the 80's and 90's with uber-kinetic genre opuses, amping up cinematic spectacle whether with special effects or sheer unbridled energy. This Hong Kong styled homage to the screwball comedies of yesteryear features black belt level slapstick and delightfully droll romcom shenanigans.

40th anniversary New 4K Restoration

Theatrical Version

Winner of eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Director, Forman's lush, rollickingly entertaining drama explores the mysteries of creativity and divinely-bestowed genius, as well as jealousy, addiction, and disapproving dads. In a remote asylum, elderly composer Antonio Salieri (a riveting, Oscar-winning F. Murray Abraham) regales a priest with the story of his long-ago frenemyship with the legendary Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce, also nominated for Best Actor). Flashing back to 18th-century Vienna, the pious and pompous Salieri eagerly anticipates meeting Europe's greatest musical genius-only to discover that Mozart is also crass, immature, and deeply annoying. Knowing that the talent of a "dirty-minded little creature" far surpasses his own drives Salieri to teeth-grinding aggravation and, ultimately, an obsession to destroy his rival.

Feminism and French New Extremity have always been a powerfully potent combination in the hands of female directors like Catherine Breillat (FAT GIRL) and Claire Denis (TROUBLE EVERY DAY), and auteur Marina de Van joined their righteously twisted ranks with her gorgeous and grotesque 2002 horror breakthrough IN MY SKIN. Esther has been recovering from a recent leg injury when she develops an increasingly disturbing relationship with her body, one where the lines between painful pleasure and self-mutilation become irrevocably blurred. Body horror filtered through serrated expectations of body image, IN MY SKIN is a powerful vision of feminist rage that will sink its teeth into you and never let go.

Director Johan Grimonprez captures the moment when African politics and American jazz collided in this magnificent essay film, a riveting historical rollercoaster that illuminates the political machinations behind the 1961 assassination of Congo's leader Patrice Lumumba. Richly illustrated by eyewitness accounts, official government memos, testimonies from mercenaries and CIA operatives, speeches from Lumumba himself, and a veritable canon of jazz icons, Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat interrogates colonial history to tell an urgent and timely story of precedent that resonates more than ever in today's geopolitical climate.

One of the defining independent films of the 1990s, Atom Egoyan's mesmerizing international breakthrough Exotica takes the conventions of the psychological thriller into bold new territory-unsettling, dreamlike, and empathetic. At the neon-drenched Toronto strip club of the film's title, a coterie of lost and damaged souls-including a man haunted by grief, a young woman with whom he shares an enigmatic bond, an obsessive emcee, and a smuggler of rare bird eggs-search for redemption as they work through the traumas of their mysteriously interconnected histories in an obsessive cycle of sex, pain, jealousy, and catharsis. Masterfully weaving together past and present, Egoyan constructs a spellbinding narrative puzzle, the full emotional impact of which doesn't hit until the last piece is in place.

Poster creation: André Barnett

Orlando (1992) is a gem of queer cinema - a film in constant metamorphosis, much like its central character. Adapted from Virginia Woolf's novel, it's a work that moves through time, gender, and identity, challenging fixed categories and linear narratives.

Sally Potter crafts an elegant meditation on gender, history, and social performance, led by a magnetic Tilda Swinton - both distant and deeply human. Orlando travels through centuries and across genders without ever losing their curious gaze on the world, as if fully existing meant constantly reinventing oneself.

With stylized direction, playful shifts in tone, and a narrative that breaks the fourth wall, Orlando reminds us that queerness is not just a subject or subtext - it's a way of seeing, of telling stories, and above all, of living.
